Meeting to discuss reactivation of the Consortium for the Standardization of Influenza Seroepidemiology (CONSISE).

## Overview of CONSISE

CONSISE is a scientific consortium established after the 2009 influenza pandemic to develop best practices and standardize seasonal and pandemic influenza seroepidemiological methods.

Between 2011 and 2016, CONSISE had two closely linked working groups:

1. Epidemiology, led by Maria Van Kerkhove, focused on improving study design and analytical approaches for seroepidemiological studies.
2. Laboratory, co-led by Othmar Engelhardt and John Wood, focused on standardizing laboratory methods including HAI, NAI, and MN.

International CONSISE meetings were held in Ottawa, Stockholm, Hong Kong, Cape Town, Washington DC, and Paris. This 2023 meeting was the first in-person meeting since 2016 and considered opportunities to strengthen study design and analysis, initiate consortium projects, and potentially extend the consortium's scope to SARS-CoV-2.

- 11:00–12:30: Epidemiology-focused session on COVID-19 and influenza seroepidemiology, knowledge gaps, and opportunities for CONSISE
- 12:30–14:00: Lunch
- 14:00–14:15: Recap of the morning session — Ben Cowling
- 14:15–15:30: Laboratory-focused session on influenza and COVID-19 assays, standardization, specimen types, and priorities
- 15:30–16:00: Break
- 16:00–17:00: Discussion of next steps for CONSISE, including management, immediate tasks, and future meetings

## Additional information

Coach transport was provided between the meeting venue and Harbour Grand Hotel. Lunch was provided and there was no registration fee.
